<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always accurately recognize the coordinates of a position where a finger or the like is placed, without being affected by use environment such as ambient light, and characteristic changes due to aging deterioration. <P>SOLUTION: This display device comprises a liquid-crystal panel 1 having a display screen where a plurality of pixels are arranged in the form of a matrix, a plurality of light detection elements 3 arranged in the form of a matrix on the liquid-crystal panel 1 for measuring the intensity of incoming light, and outputting corresponding sensor output values, and a sensor correction unit 30 formed by covering some of the light detection elements 3 with a light blocking means 17. The sensor correction unit 30 outputs as a reference value a sensor output that matches the intensity of the incoming light measured while it is covered with the light blocking means 17. Since a difference between the sensor output value obtained by another light detection element 3 and the reference value is always constant without being affected by the surrounding environment, etc., the difference is calculated and thereby the coordinates of the position designated by a hand 20 on the display screen are detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
