A latch device is provided to prevent the damage and separation of the latch device by locking/releasing the locking member to and from a striker. A latch device comprises a latch body(1) and a striker(5), and the latch body is formed at a fixed body or a moving body. The striker is locked to or released from the latch body. The latch body includes a locking member(2) and a cam member(3). The locking member slides in the direction different from that of the striker, and prevents the striker from moving in the separation direction by being engaged with the striker. The cam member transfers the force to the locking member by converting the force from the striker into the input direction of the force.
