<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent having excellent strength and adsorbing performance, and particularly suitable for a purifier, and to provide a water purifier using the same. <P>SOLUTION: Since the adsorbent in which child particles comprising either an aluminosilicate based inorganic ion exchanger or a titanium silicate based compound or a calcium phosphate based compound are fixed to the surface of a mother particle made of a thermoplastic resin is not subjected to high temperature heat history, while maintaining high adsorbing performance, its strength is excellent as well. Further, in the method for producing the adsorbent, there is no need of applying high temperature, then the adsorbent can be efficiently produced in simple equipment with high efficiency.
