摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a light source device for a projector capable of suppressing variation of illuminance in an initial stage of the lifetime of a lamp on a screen by suppressing variation of lamp voltage as a method for driving a light source device used for a projector using a color wheel. SOLUTION: In the method for driving the light source device for the projector equipped with the color wheel, the light source device comprises an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp and a power supply controller. A lamp current of frequency selected from a range of 60 to 1,000 Hz is supplied to the lamp as stationary frequency from the power supply controller, and when a boundary part between one color area and another color area of the color wheel is fit to a light condensed area formed on the color wheel, the polarity of the supply current to the lamp is reversed, and when the light condensed area is fit to a boundary changed over to the same color area of the color wheel, the lamp current of low frequency such as frequency 5 to 200 Hz is started to be inserted at regular intervals, and is continuously supplied in a period equivalent to n (n: integer) color areas of the color wheel.
