<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder for an electrodeless lamp in which the ambient temperature of a projection part for the coldest point of the electrodeless lamp hardly rises, and the temperature of the projection part for the coldest point hardly rises; and a luminaire. <P>SOLUTION: This luminaire 1 is provided with an electrodeless lamp 2 having the projection part 27 for the coldest point, this holder 3 for an electrodeless lamp, and a lighting circuit 4. The holder 3 for an electrodeless lamp is provided with a metallic housing 31, and a metallic abutting member 5 arranged in the housing 31 and connected to the housing 31 to be capable of conducting heat.
