摘要 <p>A catalyst for production of lower aliphatic carboxylic acids such as acetic acid from lower olefins and oxygen, with improved activity and selectivity. The catalyst is obtained by loading a compound comprising at least one element selected from among elements of Groups 8, 9 and 10 of the Periodic Table ((a) group compound), a compound comprising at least one element selected from among gallium, indium, thallium, germanium, tin, lead, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, sulfur, selenium, tellurium and polonium ((b) group compound) and at least one chloride of an element selected from among elements of Group 11 of the Periodic Table and zinc ((c) group compound), on a metal oxide support such as silica, alumina or silica-alumina after an alkaline substance has been previously contacted with the support, unlike conventional methods. A heteropoly acid may also be loaded if necessary.</p>
