PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mowing sickle making a substitute edge unnecessary and capable of sufficiently whetting a sickle blade by only reciprocating the sickle blade on a grinding stone slightly 2-5 times. SOLUTION: In the mowing sickle, a blade body (a) has fitting holes 6 at a part on the right side and at a part on the right side from a blade tip sharpening part 2 and the thickness of the blade body is ultrathin and the blade body is made of a steel plate and rigid chromium plating is applied to whole face of the blade body (a) and a reinforcing body (b) is formed into a shape smaller than that of the blade body (a) and the reinforcing body (b) having a fitting hole 8 which is made to coincide with fitting hole 6 of the blade body (a) in the part of on the right side from the sharpening leading end part 7 and in the part on the right side is made of a steel plate material which is thicker than thickness of the blade body (a) and chromium plating treatment is applied to the whole face of the reinforcing body (b) and the reinforcing body (b) is superposed on a surface part 1 or a rear part 4 of the blade body (a) and fitting holes 6 and 8 of a blade body (a) and the reinforcing body (b) obtained by making a fitting hole 6 of the blade body (a) coincide with a fitting hole 8 of the reinforcing body (b) are made to coincide with a fitting hole 10 formed on a shank (d) and a fixing tool 12 is inserted into fitting holes 6, 8 and 10 and pressed and bonded and the lower part of the shank is inserted into a grip (c).
