PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastic material for a pressing switch which allows easy assembly between operation panel and a circuit board constituting an operation device and also enables easy dimension setting. SOLUTION: The elastic material 50 for the pressing switch is provided between the operation panel 10B having an operation button 20E and the circuit board 40 mounted with a board-side contact. The elastic material 50 includes: a base 52 pinched between the operation panel 10B and the circuit board 40; and an elastic displacement part having a contact contacting with the board-side contact. The base 52 includes; a substrate 52a having a smaller wall thickness than a separation dimension db between the panel and the circuit board; and a protrusion 52b protruding from a surface side of the substrate 52a. The dimension tb in the thickness direction of the elastic material 50 having the protrusion 52b is larger than the clearance dimension db, and elastic deformation of the protrusion 52b absorbs its dimension difference.
