PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably control the refrigerant circulating amount according to an operating condition in a two-stage compression type refrigerating device. SOLUTION: This two-stage compression type refrigerating device 1 is provided with a refrigerant circuit 20 constituted by successively connecting: a two-stage compressor 21; a condenser 22; a high stage-side expansion valve 23; an economizer 24 for guiding a refrigerant gas separated into gas and liquid from the gas-liquid two-phase refrigerant to the intermediate of the two-stage compressor 21; a low stage-side expansion valve 25; and an evaporator 26 by refrigerant piping. The high stage-side expansion valve 23 is composed of a temperature-sensitive automatic expansion valve 29 the pressure reducing amount of which is adjusted so that a suction-side refrigerant superheat degree of the two-stage compressor 21 has a prescribed value, and the low stage-side expansion valve 25 is composed of a float expansion valve 25 the pressure reducing amount of which is adjusted so that a height of a liquid level of the refrigerant liquid in the economizer 24 has a prescribed value.
