PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing failures in detecting a pressed key. SOLUTION: A device comprises a key provided at a predetermined position, a reflection means mounted on the key, a light emitting means provided with respect to the reflection means of the pressed key, and a light receiving means which receives light emitted from the light emitting means. Since the pressed key is determined by detection of reflected light, the light from the light emitting means can be entirely received by providing the light receiving means on the all circumference (four circumferential sides) of a group of keys disposed in a matrix, and can be surely discriminated from dust, compared with a conventional case.
