A compact floor surface washing machine which can wash and clean the floor surface by utilizing the filthy washing water efficiently while collecting and is suitable for use in a small scale factory, office or shop. An exhaust air guard body (20) consisting of inner and outer exhaust air guards (22, 23) and a top (21) is arranged around a washing brush or pad (10) through a space, an exhaust air chamber (20H) as its internal space and the exhaust opening of a blower are interconnected so that the exhaust air from the blower (12) increases the pressure in the air chamber (20H), and the exhaust air guard body (20) is urged by that pressure in the direction floating from the floor surface (FL).
