FLAMEPROOF COPOLYMER AND FLAME RETARDANT THERMOPLASTIC RESIN COMPOSITION USING THEREOF

A flame retardant copolymer is provided to ensure excellent flame retardancy without input of additional flame retardants and to prepare an environment-friendly thermoplastic resin composition without the degradation of mechanical properties and the generation of toxic gas. A flame retardant copolymer comprises (a) 5~98 weight% of a vinyl cyanide monomer, (b) 1~94 weight% of an aromatic vinyl monomer, and (c) 1~30 weight% of a vinyl group-containing phosphorus monomer as repeating units. A flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of the flame retardant copolymer and 0.001-50 parts by weight of an impact modifier selected from a rubber-modified graft copolymer, an olefin copolymer, and their mixture. The phosphorus content of the vinyl group-containing phosphorus monomer is 18~30 weight%. The impact modifier is a g-ABS copolymer or MBS resin.
