PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a roller bearing with increased strength of a bent part and with high lubricating performance. SOLUTION: The retainer 13 for the roller bearing includes: a pair of ring parts 14; a pillar central part 16, a pair of pillar end parts 17; and a pair of pillar inclination parts 18 positioned between the pillar central part 16 and the pair of pillar end parts 17. The retainer further includes a plurality of pillar parts 15 mutually connecting the pair of ring parts 14. By deforming a cylinder member in a radial direction to form the pillar central part 16, the pair of pillar end parts 17, and the pair of pillar inclination parts 18. Steps 15a are formed between the pillar parts 15 and the ring part 14 so that an outer diameter faces of the pair of pillar end parts 17 are positioned in the radially inside of the outer diameter faces of the pair of ring parts 14. The cylinder member is compressed to make a boundary parts of each of neighboring parts be thicker than each part of the pillar central part 16, the pair of pillar end parts 17, and the pair of pillar inclination parts 18.
