A fluorescent lighting tube 11 is provided with a moulded plastic cover tube 17 of a non- splintering, transparent or translucent nature, and being resistive to fracture by blows. The cover serves to protect the tube 11 from breakage and is adapted to fit, together with the tube 11, into end casings 16 supported from a ceiling 14 by a base member 13 which also carries supporting spring clips 18. |
