A method for sintering steel is provided to make an atmosphere in a furnace, not including hydrogen, thereby reducing metal oxide and prevent oxidation. A method for sintering steel is implemented under the specific atmosphere in a furnace. The furnace atmosphere includes nitrogen and carbon monoxide, but not hydrogen. The furnace atmosphere also includes carbon containing enrichment gas, such as acetylene, propane, and/or methane. The furnace atmosphere is made by removing hydrogen from a composite gas, absorbent gas, or cracked methanol.
