PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid ejection device that prevents suction failure or moisturizing failure of a nozzle opening caused by capping failure, and to provide a maintenance method for the fluid ejection device. SOLUTION: The fluid ejection device includes: an ejection head having the plurality of nozzle openings that eject a fluid; a capping mechanism that seals a nozzle area of the ejection head, in which at least the plurality of nozzle openings are disposed; a suction mechanism that sucks the nozzle area sealed by the capping mechanism. The capping mechanism has: a first and second sealing members disposed in contact with the ejection head and sealing the nozzle area; and a cap body holding the first and second sealing members.
