The method involves transferring navigation data (10) by radio communication, that is produced externally, and describing a driving route on a navigation system (1). The data are used for navigation by the system. The driving route is provided by an external computer software products e.g. Microsoft(RTM: Not defined) streets and trips. The driving route is transferred to the navigation system of a vehicle and is used for the navigation of the vehicle by the navigation system. An independent claim is also included for a navigation system comprising an interface unit.
