PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new acrylate compound which has a high refractive index, is free from the problems of ultraviolet range absorption and fluorescence, is excellent in transparency, and can be polymerized, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: Provided are the acrylate compound which is an aromatic multi-cyclic compound having a high refractive index, free from the absorption in the range of high wavelengths of≥259 nm and from the problem of fluorescence, and excellent in transparency, and has a polymerizable anthracene dimer skeleton having a radically polymerizable group; and a method for synthesizing the acrylate compound having the anthracene dimer skeleton, comprising photo-dimerizing a corresponding anthracene compound.
