PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which facilitates character input and functional operation. SOLUTION: A character input-functional operation device having a camera 120 and a display section 118 comprises a memory 113 for storing a character list screen, a character list display section 201 for taking out a character list screen from the memory and displaying it at the display section; a finger motion monitoring section 202 for monitoring the image of one finger or two fingers picked up by means of the camera; a section 203 for inputting a character, based on the image of one finger monitored at the finger motion monitoring section; and a section 204 performing a functional operation, based on the image of one finger monitored at the finger motion monitoring section.
