A vehicle authentication system using telematics and a smart card is provided to facilitate correspondence to next generation mobile communications by using a high speed down packet access method and a removable universal subscriber identity module card. A vehicle authentication system using telematics and a smart card comprises a component unit, a communications unit, and a database server. The component unit is made of each component of a vehicle. The components include characteristic identification numbers. The components are connected through CAN communications. The communication unit is formed in the vehicle for the telematics communications. The communications unit comprises a smart card for providing the user information. The communication unit links to the component unit and CAN communication. The database server is operated by following steps. The user information which it is transmitted from the smart card of the vehicle is compared with the stored user information. In case of being authenticated, the operation signal is transmitted to the communication unit of the vehicle and each component is activated through the CAN communication. In case of failing authentication, off signals are transmitted and the canvas of the component unit is switched off. The database server has the user information of the registered vehicle in order to deactivate each component. The database server is formed in order to telematics-communicate with the vehicle.
