<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a worm for cooling a worm gear reducer without increasing the number of components, and to provide an electric power steering device equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: In the electric power steering device, a motor 11 is driven in response to steering input to a steering wheel and the driving torque of the motor 11 is utilized for steering a vehicle. The driving torque of the motor 11 is transmitted via the worm gear reducer 40 to a pinion shaft 5 of a steering shaft. The worm gear reducer 40 consists of a worm shaft 44 connected to an output shaft 12 of the motor 11, and a worm wheel 45 fixed to the pinion shaft 5 and engaging with the worm 43 of the worm shaft 44. A cooling hole is provided in the worm shaft 44. The cooling hole has one opening opening to the end face of the worm shaft 44 and the other opening opening to the outer peripheral face of a worm terminal forming part 50 of the worm shaft 44. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
