<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: with a black-and-white printer, as to data in which a character of the same color value as a graphic is drawn in a graphic, a character of the same density as the graphic merges into the graphic and cannot be visually recognized on a display but, when printed out, the character stands out due to differences in halftone. <P>SOLUTION: In an image processing device, density of a background graphic is compared with density of a character drawn on that.
