PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required until atomization is started and to stably perform electrostatic atomization. SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomization apparatus is provided with an atomization electrode a water feeding means for feeding water to the atomization electrode and a high-voltage power source circuit for applying a high voltage in order to electro-statically atomize water fed to the atomization electrode and produces charged particulate water by applying the high-voltage power source voltage by the high-voltage power source circuit to electro-statically atomize water fed to the atomization electrode. An electrostatic atomization detection means is provided for detecting that electrostatic atomization is performed. A voltage at starting of operation of the electrostatic atomization apparatus is set higher than the atomization voltage at the electrostatic atomization. After starting of the electrostatic atomization is detected by the electrostatic atomization detection means, the starting voltage is lowered to be controlled so as to become the atomization voltage.
