LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

A liquid crystal display device (1) comprises an emphasis conversion unit (2) which performs an emphasis conversion process of an image data of the present frame according to an emphasis conversion parameter corresponding to a combination of the image data of the present frame and the image data of one frame before the present frame and driving units (3, 5, 6) which display the image corresponding to the image data to which the emphasis conversion process is performed by the emphasis conversion unit (2) in a liquid crystal display panel (4). The liquid crystal display device comprises a temperature sensor (7) for detecting the temperature in the device, an optical sensor (9) for detecting an amount of an incident light to the liquid crystal display panel (4) from outside, and a control unit (8) which calculates the temperature of the liquid crystal display panel (4) according to the temperature in the device and the amount of light and changes the emphasis conversion parameter used for the emphasis conversion process according to the calculated temperature of the liquid crystal display panel (4). Therefore, even when the temperature of the liquid crystal display panel (4) is changed by the incident light from outside, an optical response characteristic of the liquid crystal display panel (4) can be properly compensated.
