PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm boarding in a car and to automatically and safely perform maintenance/inspection by remote operation. SOLUTION: An elevator operation direction (ascending/descending) by speed instruction from an upper rank controller is determined by an elevator operation direction determination part 35. Output of the operation direction determined by the operation direction determination part 35 is given to a measurement determination part 34. A d-axis current detection value id and q-axis current detection value iq output from a three-phase/two-phase conversion part 24 are fed to an INV output current detection part, an INV output current value iac is calculated from these detection values by the following formula, and it is fed to the measurement determination part 34. INV output current =√(id<SP>2</SP>+iq<SP>2</SP>) In the measurement determination part 34, measurement beginning determination by the elevator car operation direction, record of INV output current value iaco at an elevator car intermediate position and comparison of the measured/stored INV output current value iac and a reference value (iaco±detection error) are performed.
