PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single base fluorescent lamp of which a product strength can withstand a transportation as a merchandise and a product failure is not increased and which has a limited variation in a plurality of the coldest spot candidate temperatures and has stable lamp characteristics. SOLUTION: The single base fluorescent lamp has a discharging passage which is bent at least once or more and in which an in-tube mercury steam pressure is not controlled by amalgam but by a normal coldest spot and a corner of the U-shaped bent portion becomes the coldest spot. When t is a glass thickness of the corner of the bent portion of the coldest spot and t<SB>0</SB>is a glass thickness of an unbent portion, a relation of 0.12 mm≤t<t<SB>0</SB>/5 is satisfied.
