摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal device excellent in mechanical properties such as a sliding characteristic, strength or fracture toughness, and preventing coming-off of SiC particles by suppressing embrittlement, and used for a liquid shaft sealing device in a rotating apparatus such as a pump using liquid, and a SiC-based sintered body rotating ring used for the mechanical seal device, and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In the mechanical seal device including the SiC-based sintered body rotating ring and a carbon-based seal ring, the SiC-based sintered body rotating ring has an average crystal particle diameter of 5 &mu;m or less, and porosity of 1.0% or less. The rotating ring is manufactured by an atmosphere control pressurizing sintering method after mixing 0-100% of the SiC particles having a purity of 99.9% or more manufactured by a vapor phase synthesizing method (CVD method) into SiC-based raw material particles manufactured by an oxide reduction method and granulating and molding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
