PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for magnetic recording media, which can restrain the deflection of the outer periphery section of the magnetic recording media in rotation. SOLUTION: The substrate 1 for magnetic recording media is in a disk-like shape and a through-hole 2 is formed at the center of the substrate. The magnetic recording media is manufactured by forming a magnetic film on the surface of the substrate 1 for magnetic recording media. A region inside the outer periphery edge of the substrate 1 for magnetic recording media by a prescribed distance is a non-recording region 4, and the inner region is a recording region 3. The recording region 3 is composed of a resin and is capable of recording information in the magnetic recording media. The non-recording region 4 is a region where no information is recorded in the magnetic recording media. A resin or metal having a Young's modulus higher than that of the recording region 3 is used for the non-recording region 4. For example, for the non-recording region 4, a resin having a Young's modulus of 4-50 [GPa] and an inorganic material having a Young's modulus of 40-500 [GPa] is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
