PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus capable of forming and outputting a uniform high gloss part and a low gloss part without depending on the image density in any desired part in the same image plane and giving a high-quality toner image having no image defect such as toner peeling, color mixture failure and offset. SOLUTION: The image forming method has: fixing by heating a chromatic toner image and/or a transparent toner image on a recording material when a first image is formed, and then fixing a transparent toner image in the same plane on the recording material when a second image and consecutive images are formed. An attained melt viscosityη1 of the toner in a fixing nip in the fixing step when forming the first image and an attained melt viscosityη2 of the toner in the fixing nip in the fixing step when forming the second image satisfy a relationship of (attained melt viscosityη1)<(attained melt viscosityη2).
