Casting process to manufacture complex cast form e.g. automotive turbo charger components using soluble binding agent and soluble core insert

In a process to fabricate a complex core for a metal casting process, the core is created by the introduction of a form skin-system into an engraved core box. In a first stage the core box engraved inner surface is coated with a soluble binding agent and a soluble core (14) is inserted into the core box void. Molten material is then introduced to the remaining voids to form an unfinished core form (17). In a second stage the first core (14) is dissolved and the core form surfaces are cleaned. The binding agent is an inorganic water-soluble substance. The soluble core (14) is removed by a combination of water and compressed air, also cleaning the surfaces of the unfinished unfinished form (17). The unfinished raw forms (17) are subsequently cleaned by a machine process.
