A quick-release fitting assembly is described, including: - a male fitting (9); - a female fitting (5C); - an annular member (21 ) surrounding the female fitting, said annular member being provided with a projection (21 B) to retain the male fitting in position within the female fitting; - a first retaining groove (25A) provided on an outer surface of the female fitting and a second retaining groove (23A) provided on an inner surface of the annular member, the first and second retaining groove forming a seat for a retention rod (27A, 27B), surrounding the female fitting, the retention rod locking the annular member on the female fitting.
