PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier capable of detecting a clipping of a desired extent. SOLUTION: An amplifier 100 contains a differential output operational amplifier 10. Resistors R1 are connected respectively between positive/negative input signal terminals of the amplifier 100 and positive/negative input terminals Vin+ and Vin- of the differential output operational amplifier 10. Resistors R2 are connected respectively between negative/positive output signal terminals of the amplifier 100 and the positive/negative input terminals Vin+ and Vin- of the differential output operational amplifier 10. A comparison circuit 20 equipped with comparators 21a and 21b outputs a true signal, when either voltage V1 of the positive input terminal Vin+ or voltage V2 of the negative input terminal Vin- of the differential output operational amplifier 10 exceeds voltage Vcmp for comparison outputted by a detection level setting circuit 23.
