ALKYLPOLYGLYCOSIDE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALKYLPOLYGLYCOSIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkylpolyglycoside (APG) which has a good hue and a high average sugar polymerization degree and excels in the solubility in water and a polar solvent, bubbling, bubble stability, and viscosity. SOLUTION: This APG having an average sugar polymerization degree of 1.5-2.5 and a hue of Gardner Color No.7 or lower is produced by reacting a sugar with excess alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst and distilling off unreacted alcohol from the reaction solution after the reaction. The method comprises adding an inorganic acid salt to the reaction solution containing unreacted alcohol after the reaction and then removing the unreacted alcohol by distillation.
