PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device which reduces the occurrence of a malfunction as compared to a monitoring camera operating based on the loudness of a sound as an index by using a movement route of the sound as the index. SOLUTION: When a user operates an operation unit 14 to indicate a start of guard, a control unit 11 receives the indication to make microphones M1 to M8 ready for picking up a sound and to receive an audio signal from an audio signal output unit 12. Then the control unit 11 compares the level of the received audio signal with a predetermined threshold and specifies the microphone which outputs the audio signal when the level exceeds the threshold. Then the route where the sound moved is estimated from a change of which the microphone has been picked up the sound. Then the control unit 11 reads an intrusion route pattern out of an intrusion route pattern storage area 13a and compares it with the estimated route to determine whether the estimated route matches a route pattern indicating an illegal intrusion, and sends a drive signal for shutter release to a camera C when it is determined that they match each other.
