PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image display of high quality on an electro-optical device like a liquid crystal device and to miniaturize the device. SOLUTION: An electro-optical device includes a pair of a first substrate (10) and a second substrate (20) disposed so as to face each other, a plurality of pixel electrodes (9a) arrayed on the first substrate, and a seal material (52) which is disposed along the periphery of a pixel region where the plurality of pixel electrodes are arrayed and bonding the first and second substrates to each other. An alignment mark (200) for alignment between the first and second substrates is provided which is located on the outer edge side of the second substrate beyond seal regions where the seal material is disposed, of the first and second substrates and in at least one of four corner regions (61a) partially defined by four corners of the second substrate.
