PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of purifying exhaust gas ingredients, including HCs, CO and particulate, and the heat resistance of the performance.

SOLUTION: A catalyst metal is supported by a support material in which primary particles of activated alumina, those of a Ce type composite oxide and those of a Zr type composite oxide are mixed to form secondary particles.
