摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detector for an electric circuit that can maintain high fault detection accuracy and detect the fault in a short period of time in the event of obvious fault such as disconnection and short-circuiting. SOLUTION: The fault detector for an electric circuit has determination means (S108, S110, S114, S116, S120, S122) that use a plurality of determination thresholds arranged in order in the direction getting away from a normal range from at least either one of an upper limit value or a lower limit value within the normal range of the actual current to be set up relative to the target current to detect any current fault in the electric circuit, wherein the determination thresholds to be set up closer to the normal range have longer waiting time required for determining the current fault in the electric circuit. The determination means determine the current fault in the electric circuit by completing comparison between the actual current value detected by a current detection means and the determination thresholds in order from the determination threshold far from the normal range to that close to the normal range.
