<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device, capable of providing distance information of a route desired by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The terminal device 3 adapted to receive discrete coordinate data computed by reading a coded pattern printed on special paper 2A from an electronic pen 1A and compute a distance according to the length of handwriting from the coordinate data comprises a data communication means which receives the coordinate data; and a distance computing means. The distance computing means divides a plurality of position coordinates of the coordinate data received by the data communication means and computed by the electronic pen 1A along the handwriting to sections so that monotonous increase or monotonous decrease of X coordinate is continued in time series order, thereafter performs interpolation to each section with two or more kinds of interpolation functions to calculate areas surrounded by a segment obtained by connecting each position coordinate by a straight line and curves obtained by various interpolation functions, adapts an interpolation function with the smallest area of the calculated areas, computes a line integrated value of each adapted interpolation function, and computes a distance according to the handwriting by adding the line integrated value of each adapted interpolation function. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
