PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a current position according to a user's means of transportation in a system for displaying a current position on a map. SOLUTION: A cellular phone as a map display device determines a user's means of transportation and acquires from a server route data indicating a route to travel. The cellular phone sets a correction region for correcting a current position according to the user's means of transportation. When the cellular phone detects the current position by a GPS receiver, the cellular phone determines whether the current position has been detected in the correction region set according to the user's means of transportation. In the case where the current position has been detected in the correction region, the cellular phone corrects the current position to a position on a recommended route.
