A method and apparatus for providing input feedback in portable terminal is provided to provide the rough touch by using vibration on the display screen and feed back the selection of the exact object to user. The finger of user is contacted with the on-screen in which a plurality of objects is displayed and sensed(412). The identification value sensed from the contacted finger is compared with one or more critical value(416). According to the comparison result, vibration is generated so that vibration is discriminated (418,422).
