PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CVD diamond layer, related to a diamond. SOLUTION: This CVD diamond layer used as an insert to an abrasive tool is characterized in that: (i) the layer has a concentration of at least 0.05 atom% and contains a boron dopant atom; and (ii) the average tensile rupture strength of at least 600 MPa generated by a nucleating phase in a tension state and the average tensile rupture strength of at least 300 MPa generated by a growing surface in a tension state measured by a three-point bending test for a sample of not larger than 18 mm in length, 2 mm in width and 1.4 mm in thickness.
