PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state-of-charge estimation device capable of appropriately estimating the state-of-charge (SOC), especially for a battery which can be charged by an on-vehicle power generator for making the output voltage of an alternator variable. SOLUTION: When a command voltage for the alternator changes and then is fixed, the charging current for the battery temporarily increases, then gradually decreases and converges at a predetermined value as shown in Fig. 9(a). Since the convergence value is determined according to the output voltage and the SOC as shown in Fig. 9(b), the SOC is estimated based on the convergence value. However, the behavior of a transient charging current until the convergence varies according to the polarization state of the battery.
