A method for distinguishing pieces of music, and a method for distinguishing pieces of music for performing the same are provided to supply a melody and/or a fragment of the words of a song of discriminated pieces of music, for example, a first bar or a refrain to an analysis device. At least one part(MA) of a melody and words of a song of discriminated pieces of music is supplied to an analysis device(1). The at least one part of the melody and the words of the song, the pieces of music known to the analysis device or homogeneity between the parts are determined. At least one known pieces of music is selected with reference to the determined homogeneity when prescribed minimum homogeneity extent exists. One of the identification data(ID) of the selected pieces of music and at lest a part of the selected pieces of music itself is supplied, or corresponding information is supplied when any pieces of music is not selected.
