PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method of wastewater from coal gasifying which efficiently removes cyan, metals, a COD component or the like contained in gas washing wastewater produced in a coal gasifying process to obtain treated water of good quality, and to provide a treatment apparatus of wastewater from coal gasifying. SOLUTION: The treatment method of wastewater from coal gasifying is characterized in that the wastewater is brought into contact with a chelating resin to remove dissolved metals before being subjected to wet catalytic oxidation. The treatment apparatus of the wastewater has a chelating resin device for bringing the wastewater into contact with the chelating resin and a wet catalytic oxidation reactor for subjecting the outflow water of the chelating resin device to wet catalytic oxidation.
