PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerant compressor easily assembled, quickly discharging lubricant leaked from a slide contact part of a mechanical seal, and preventing oil from sludging around a fixed ring. SOLUTION: The refrigerant compressor 1 has the mechanical seal 30 for shaft-sealing between the inside and the outside of a housing 2 at a portion penetrated by a rotary shaft 25. The mechanical seal 30 includes: the fixed ring 41 fixed and installed to an inner peripheral face of a boss part 7A; and a rotary ring 44 disposed to the inside of the fixed ring 41, opposed to the fixed ring, fixed and installed to an outer peripheral face of the rotary shaft 25, and having the slide contact part formed between its side face and a side face of the fixed ring 41 facing each other. An inclined part 49A is formed to the inner peripheral face of the boss part 7A outside of the fixed ring 41. The inclined part 49A gradually enlarging all of the inner peripheral face or at least a part of the inner peripheral face on the under side in a gravitational force direction from the fixed ring 41 side toward an oil discharge port 51.
