BAND RING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin band ring capable of reducing the wear and friction of its outer peripheral portion and efficiently intercepting blow-by gas. SOLUTION: The band ring 1A formed of resin and having no abutment joint is fitted in a ring groove 2aA formed on the outer peripheral surface of a piston 2A of an internal combustion engine. The band ring 1A is disposed below a top ring 4. The band ring 1A is so formed that the outer peripheral portion is not in close contact with a bore 3a for receiving the piston 2A therein at a normal temperature in a state that the band ring 1A is fitted to the piston 2A incorporated in the internal combustion engine. The band ring 1A has predetermined elongation which allows the band ring 1A to be fitted in the ring groove 2aA at the normal temperature. The band ring 1A has an elongation of 10% or larger as predetermined elongation so that a quality problem such as damage is not caused in the band ring 1A by manipulation when fitting the band ring 1A in the ring groove 2aA.
