PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium and display device that improve the chromaticity of background color and have excellent contrast and masking force. SOLUTION: A group 34 of particles moving between a display substrate 20 and a back surface substrate 22 of the display medium 12 according to an electric field formed between the substrates and a dispersion medium 50 for dispersing the group 34 of particles are inserted and sealed between the display surface and back surface substrates. A gap through which the group 34 of particles are made to pass is arranged between the substrates, and a reflecting particle group 28 which is different from the group 34 of particles and has optical reflection characteristics is arranged between the substrates.
