PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program recorder which can record an entire program without failure, when recording a broadcast program of an event relay, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: In the program recorder, each of receiving parts 102, 103 receives a digital broadcast signal. A control part 112 reads program information stored in a memory 111 and determines whether a program received by the receiving part 102 and recorded in the recording part 110 is a program of an event relay. When the receiving part 102 is receiving a program of event relay (programming of a continuing agency), channel select control is carried out so that the receiving part 103 receives a program of the relay destination (programming of a continuation place) a fixed period of time, before the broadcast of the program is finished.
