PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element substrate capable of obtaining high-quality printed images for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The element substrate has a plurality of heating resistors; driving elements each of which is provided corresponding to each of the plurality of heating resistors to selectively drive the plurality of heating resistors; an input terminal for inputting a selection signal of a driving mode; and a block selecting circuit for time-divisionally driving, in blocks of different timings, the heating resistors in each of a plurality of groups each including a predetermined number of heating resistors and driving elements. The element substrate has a logic circuit for time-divisionally driving the heating resistors in the group when the selection signal input from the input terminal is a signal for selecting a first driving mode, and simultaneously driving all the heating resistors in the group when the selection signal is a signal for selecting a second driving mode.
