PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color component interpolation apparatus which prevents color slippage to flexibly deal with a pixel array change or color filter change and to also deal with digital zooming. SOLUTION: A color component interpolation apparatus includes: an image pickup data input section 101 for capturing image pickup data consisting of positions, colors and a signal amount of a plurality of pixels constituting an imaging element; a parameter estimation section 102 for estimating parameters of two or more color component functions with a matched derived function from the image pickup data; and a color component estimation section 103 for determining color components at respective points using the color component functions, wherein at least one unknown parameter of the color component functions is estimated from the image pickup data of a pixel at an attention position and the image pickup data of a plurality of pixels around the attention position in such a manner as to match derived functions of the color component functions with each other for each color component, and the color component function for each color component and the estimated parameter for each color component are used to estimate a signal amount of the missed color component at the attention position.
